We are milking 400 high yielding cows, fully housed. The herd is milked 3 times per day through a Boumatic Rapid Exit ​Parlour, averaging 11,000 litres. Calving all year round and rearing all our own replacements. Data and records kept on uniform agri.

We are a progressive awarding winning farm (Farmers Weekly Dairy farmer of the Year 2023) with protocols in place for key areas and we monitor and record KPIs . We are always looking to make improvements and open to new ideas. Please see other pages on our website for more information.

The Assistant Herdsperson role will involve working as part of the team in all aspects of cow care.  This is a full-time position as part of the dairy team, working alongside William (Farm manager/owner) and Abbie (assistant herd manager). You will need to be able to supervise less experienced team members, so some dairy experience is required.  

This role will involve​
·        Cow Fertility (AI skills an advantage but training can be arranged)
·        Milking with supervision of less experienced staff
·        Uniform agri - ability to carry out basic tasks (training can be provided)
·        Scrapping and bedding of sand cubicles with skid steer (some experience of operating       agricultural machinery is required)

You will need to
·       Be passionate about cows and their welfare.
·       Have experience milking and be able to take lead in identifying illness.
·       Be looking for stability in a role you can settle in or to develop your skills.
·       Enjoy working as part of a team where everyone is respected.
·       Full UK driving licence required.
·       Have full right to work in the UK

Location
Very scenic rural location between the towns of Biggar and Lanark, both with local amenities. Excellent local schools. 1 hour drive to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Carlisle.
